Uniform is a vital part of an organization that displays discipline and responsibility. It creates a sense of equality and unity among people.

Do you guys know how many uniforms of NDA cadets are there? Any guesses? Well, not one or two. There are around 10 Uniforms of NDA cadets.

They have uniforms for every occasion. NDA cadets work hard to earn these uniforms as these are the emblem of honor for the candidates. In other words, the uniform of the NDA cadets tells about their position.

Types of uniforms of NDA cadets

· Dress -1 /1A ( Blue Patrol)

This uniform of NDA cadets is known as Blue Patrol. Candidates wear them during ceremonial ceremonies in winter with a Bandgala coat.

The shoulders pips have ranks achieved by the candidate. Unlike the other candidates, the armored cop personnel does not wear embroidered pip on their shoulders. Instead, they have a chain mail with their rank on the shoulder.

The specialization of this uniform is its ravishing buttons. Candidates put a lot of effort into polishing these buttons. Graduating candidates hand over these buttons to the fresher.

This uniform of NDA cadets is generally for parties and called a mess dress for winters. Cadets love wearing this uniform as they look presentable in them.

· Dress -2/2A( White Patrol)

It's clear from the name that the uniform is white. NDA cadets wear this uniform during ceremonial functions in summer. It is also called the equivalent of a Blue Patrol dress.

Maintaining this uniform is a tough row to hoe. As this uniform is white, a single stain can make you cry.

· Dress -2B (Summer Mess dress)

It is a special uniform of NDA cadets and is semi-formal. This uniform is for ceremonial mess functions in summer.

It includes a white shirt, grey trousers, a cummerbund, and a cap. NDA cadets wear them mostly during a guest dinner night in summer.

· Dress-3 (Drill order)

It is one of the simplest uniforms worn by NDA cadets.

This uniform consists of a Khaki colored shirt, shorts, and drill shoes. NDA cadets wear them in winters with jerseys.

· Dress -4 (khaki dress)

Just like students have uniforms for attending schools and colleges. NDA cadets also have a uniform for their academic classes.

It is also a Khaki uniform slightly different from a drill order uniform. NDA cadets wear during summertime for their academic classes.

· Dress-5/5A (Mufti Dress)

It is known as Mufti dress. This uniform consists of a white shirt with black or grey trousers with a red tie and makes it quite attractive.

It is identification for NDA candidates when they are outside the campus. This uniform of cadets is for Habibullah functions, Liberty, and market.

· Dress7/7A (Combat Dress)

It is the standard field uniform of the Indian army with a forest camouflage pattern. Because of this pattern, it is called 'Jungle Dress.' It's the uniform that cadets wear during field training.

During winter, NDA cadets compliment this uniform with a sweater or jacket.

The uniform has stars on the flap, name, and ranks. Usually, it does not have any metal star/badge, but designatory badges are pinned on it.

During wars or exercise, cadets only wear basic ranks and names (on dress). Other achievements and decorations get their place during peace.

· Dress 8/8A

For every type of training, National Defense Academy has different uniforms for the cadets.

This dress is for equitation training. In winter, NDA cadets complement this uniform with a jersey or jacket.

· Dress9/9A (PT Dress)

NDA cadets have different classes, and one such is PT classes. When you have uniforms for every field, why not for PT classes?

Dress 9/9A is a PT dress and involves a white T-shirt and white trousers. It is usually worn in summers and with jerseys in winters. This uniform of NDA cadets is also known as Green Patrol dress.

· Dress-10 (Ceremonial Game Dress)

It's clear by the name that this uniform is for ceremonial games and worn during military funerals, wreath-laying or guard of honor, etc.

The dress includes a neck scarf, Kamar band, medals, and declarations. This dress is not part of the regular uniform worn by the army personnel and is worn only on special occasions.

Maintaining NDA cadets' uniform

The purpose of having so many uniforms in the National Defense Academy is to teach them discipline and inspire them about unity, dignity, and responsibility.

It takes more effort to maintain these uniforms than it is possible to earn them. The maintenance of uniforms is a part of their training. It teaches them the importance of uniforms and their value in life.

How to take care of the uniform of NDA cadets?

The uniform should always be neat, well-ironed, and fully buttoned. The shirts should be wrinkle-free and sharp crease sown at the center of the cloth.
Wipe your boots with a damp cotton cloth and remove all the dust. Take a thick layer of polish and rub in a small circular motion. Let it dry for 15 minutes. Take a soft brush and scrub the boots to remove the excess polish.
Everyday training and hectic schedule make your uniform sweaty and dirty. You can use hot water to wash your uniforms. It ensures dirt and sweat-free uniforms.
In addition to the cleanness of the dress, military appearance includes physical fitness and weight standards.
To stay fit in the uniform, cadets keep themselves physically fit.
