NDA Cadets Leaves and Vacation

NDA cadets have a busy schedule from Monday to Saturday. They have to attend academic classes, participate in different co-curricular activities and train themselves for physical strength. The cadets woke up at 4:30 am and sleep at 10:00 in the night. Sundays are off for cadets to allow their minds and body to rest.

Leave for NDA cadets

NDA cadets can get leave only on medical or extreme compassionate grounds during the training period.

However, the cadets can take leave up to a maximum of 10 days on extreme compassionate ground, at the discretion of the Commandant.

· Mid Term Break-

After 11 weeks of training, in March/September, the cadets get a one-week mid-term break. This vacation is a hike and part of curriculum activities. It refreshes you from the hectic schedules, training, and exercises.]

You will visit various historical monuments, scientific centers, military installations, research and development institutes, and places of tourist attraction.]

All these activities boost your confidence, mental robustness, and teamwork. It also increases your knowledge and fosters an adventurous spirit. Overall this vacation hike is best for your mind and body. It rejuvenates your soul and relaxes your mind.

· Term Break-

All the NDA cadets receive a holiday of 28-30 days after every six months to visit their home. The term breaks are as follows -

1. Summer Vacation (June-July) -

For three weeks.

2. Winter Vacation (December-January) –

For three weeks.

· Liberty-

National Defense Academy offers you freedom and joy. The cadets can visit Gaya City and Bodh Gaya on Sundays and holidays, only after meeting some stipulations, including attaining laid down standards in the drill.

· Interview/ Examination-

The cadets cannot appear for any interview or examination other than SSB during the training session. You can even get punishment for the same.

· Visitors-

Yes! NDA Cadets can have visitors too. The cadets can have visitors only after the first four weeks of commencement of the term on Sundays/ Holidays as per the notified timings (visitors should confirm the same from the cadets).

Yes! NDA cadets go for a haircut on Sundays. You know the rules of NDA, even a slight remnant of hair can bring unwanted punishment to a cadet in the upcoming week. Cadets are careful about it and get a regular haircut.

· Sleeping beauty-

There is no debate about this. What will you do if you get one day off from a hectic schedule? Sleep and relax!

Sunday is a break day needed for full-time rest due to an exhausting week. All the cadets sleep and recharge their bodies for the upcoming week.

· Outing -

Sundays are for fun. NDA cadets get one day off, and nothing is better than enjoying going out and exploring the city. You can enjoy tasty food and make new friends.

· Writing letters-

It may surprise you a little bit, but that's true. As we know, the National Defence Academy does not allow mobile phones. So cadets get off on Sundays and write letters to their friends and family. They pen down their emotions and keep you updated about their life.

· Canteen -

YO! Good food means a good mood. It's time to buy some snacks for the coming week. You can have anything consumable without cooking.

· Weapon Cleaning -

It is a very entertaining activity. Cadets have to clean their weapons that could have been left dirty due to weeklong training activity.

Everything you do in NDA makes you learn something. Whether it's a debate class or a task of cleaning weapons, you will develop a skill from it. These skills will not only help you in becoming a better person but will keep you ahead. You will overcome any obstacle if you are determined and know life lessons.
