MNS is a short service commissioned post in the Indian army. Aspirants get a chance to enroll in 4 years B.Sc.(Nursing) course in colleges of Nursing based on the merit cum choice and subject to medical fitness. The selection process of MNS goes through three stages, and one of them is a medical test.

Selection Process

To enroll in the Military Nursing service, one needs to clear three stages of the MNS examination. Firstly you need to crack the MNS written exam. After qualifying for the written exam, you will need to appear for the interview round and the MNS medical test.

MNS Exam

The MNS exam consists of 150 marks covering questions from General Science( Physics, chemistry, biology of class 11th and 12th), General Knowledge, and English.

The Interview

After qualifying for the written examination, candidates will appear for an interview round that carries 100 marks to concede to the merits list. Entering the interview round and clearing the process, the candidate is eligible for the MNS medical test.

Medical Test - procedure

Medical fitness is determined as per standards applicable for commission in the Armed forces as amended from time to time.

The selected candidates will appear for medical examination before a Special Medical Board (SMB). Candidates declared FIT/UNFIT by the President of the Medical Board is informed, including the procedure of requesting for APPEAL/REVIEW MEDICAL BOARD.

Medical eligibility for MNS

The Minimum height required is 152cms.

  • The candidate's height is measured by making her stand against the standard with her feet together. The candidate has to stand erect without rigidity, and the heels, calves, buttocks, and shoulders should touch the surface. The chin will be depressed to bring the vertex of the head level under the horizontal bar, and the height is measured in centimeters.

  • Any decimal fractions lower than 0.5cm is ignored; 0.5cm is recorded as 0.6cm, and above 0.5 cm is recorded as one cm.

  • MNS aspirants who fall short of minimum height by 1.3 cm or less but are otherwise fit in all respects are given relaxation to the extent of 1.3cm.

  • Gorkhas, Garhwal, and Kumaon are allowed a relaxation with a minimum height of 148 cm.

  • The minimum weight required is 39 kg.

  • The chest must be 77 cm without expansion and, it should be at least 82 with the lungs expansion.

  • Fourteen dental Points are necessary,

  • You should not carry any genetic disease like joint knees, color blindness, or night blindness.

  • The elbow should not turn in the outer direction for more than 15 degrees.

  • There shall be no permanent injury in your joints and bones. They should be fine.· Severe body fractures can be a reason for permanent rejection.

  • The candidate needs to physically fir to appear for MNS medical test.

Eyesight Required:

  • · Your eyesight must be 6/6 without glasses.

  • If wearing glasses, it should not be worse than 6/12.

  • · Limits for myopia 0.75D and Hypermetropia +1.5D

  • Binocular vision III

  • Limits for color perception I

  • You should not have color blindness or night blindness.

Note

  • Fundus and Media need to be healthy and within normal limits.

  • No undue degenerative signs of vitreous or chorioretinal are present, suggesting progressive myopia.

  • You should have a standard binocular vision, fusion faculty

  • There should be no organic disease likely to cause exacerbations or deterioration of vision.

Documents to present Before Interview and Medical Examination

All those candidates who will appear for MNS medical test have to bring the following documents and certificates.

  • · Passing Certificate of class 10th

  • Certificate of the nursing degree course

  • NCC (if any)

  • ID proof of Indian citizenship

  • Character certificate

  • NOC (required in case if employed)

There are a few more medical tests that take place in MNS medical tests. Those tests are easy. If you are physically fit and away from severe injuries, then you will easily pass the tests. If you get rejected for whatsoever reason, you can apply it again. You can re-apply if rejected again. The board will always give a reason for the rejection. There are two types of rejection

1) Permanent rejection

There is no way to get back if you get a permanent rejection. Even if you re-apply, the results would be the same. Permanent rejection is the case when the candidate has some vast issues like a genetic disease or fractures.

2) Temporary rejection

If you have some minor problem, you will be assigned 45-90 days and a maximum of 160 days to correct the issues.
